How the date difference is calculated
The difference is computed twice, in two useful shapes. The calendar breakdown counts whole years, then whole months, then leftover days — stepping through real month lengths and clamping at month ends, so 31 January plus one month lands on 28 February. The totals are plain day arithmetic: exact days between the dates, whole weeks with days left over, and how many of those days are weekdays. By default the end date is excluded (1 Jan → 8 Jan is 7 days); switch on 'include end date' to count both endpoints, as you would for a booking or a course of medication.

Are my dates uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything is calculated locally in your browser — nothing is sent to a server, logged or stored. The two dates and the include-end-date option appear in the page URL only so you can share a link to the exact comparison.
Should I include the end date?
It depends what you're counting. Durations — how long something lasted — usually exclude the end date: Monday to Friday is 4 days. Spans where both endpoints count — hotel nights vs. days on site, prescription days, inclusive deadlines — need the switch on, which adds one day to every total.
Why isn't a month just 30 days here?
Because calendars don't work that way. The breakdown steps through real months, so '1 month' from 15 March means 15 April, whether that month had 28, 30 or 31 days. If you need a uniform unit, use the total days or weeks rows instead — those are exact counts.
